Mk1 Fiesta's are worth decent money now. Even mk2's like mine change hands for decent money if they're tidy.

However, I've got a mk3 Escort 3-door in sunburst red I'd consider parting with for the right money.....

It's one of the last XR3's (before they became XR3i), distinguished because it had a 5-speed from the factory and electric windows. I was once told there were 200 in that spec, but I've no idea if that's true. They had 1.6 CVH's on the infamous Weber DFT carb.

I've fitted a 1.8 Zetec silver top engine with fuel injection on stock Ford ECU. It runs and drives, and has been used on the road, but the conversion needs finishing properly. Main things are that the electrics need a tidy up and guages need to be connected (temperature and rev counter if I remember correctly).

It had a new dash fitted (as they all crack and warp) just before I laid it up. Not perfect, but not bad. Whilst the dash was out I fitted a Toad Ai606 alarm with remote central locking and Trakm8 GPS/GSM tracker. It also new headlights with HID conversions, clear indicators, etc.

Currently sits on 15" 'dog leg' alloys from a mk4 RS Turbo but the original 14" cloverleaf wheels can be included. I've got loads of spares for it too, including the bits to convert it to Mondeo front calipers. It had a new sunroof mechanism around that time too which meant it worked last time I tried it. (Most of them have been fixed shut!).

Bodywork is far from mint, but considering it's nearly 30 years old it's pretty tidy. It had various bits wax filled when it was new which helps. It needs a new tailgate as the window edge has rotted and the bottom rear corners of both doors have gone. You could fix them if you're handy with a welder or buy new. None of this stuff stops it being roadworthy, it's just cosmetic.

It does however have a small hole in the floor where the drivers floor pan meets the inner front wheel arch. This is common to go on these cars - same on mk1/mk2 Fiestas as they're constructed in a similar way. The last couple of MOT's it had my tester was prepared to 'overlook' it, but it should really be fixed, especially as some time has passed. Despite dry storage it could still have got worse. Pretty easy job for DIY though.

It goes without saying that it doesn't have an MOT, and it's on a SORN. It's not been on the road for 3 years and not been started for over a year, although that time I just charged the battery and it started on the first turn of the key and drove on and off the trailer to it's new storage place, such is the wonder of (semi-) modern electronic fuel injection!

The bad news is that I don't really want to sell it so I'm not going to let it go for peanuts. It's been in dry storage for about 3 years now, and it can stay that way for the foreseeable future if needs be until my Fiesta is done and I'm looking for the next project. But, if you're serious about owning one, by all means drop me a line and we can arrange a viewing.

Cheers, Chris

It should nt be to difficult to get a Sierra for scrap money, as long as you can find replacement engine, back axle, front hub assembly, steering rack, propshaft, engine, steering column and wheel, lightbulbs, handbrake.............

There was a whole one advertised on the notice board at CBS a few weeks ago, might still be there.
