I got one free at the local tip, but have so far failed to find anyone who's willing to fill it up for me.

Chris, what bottle is it ? If it's not a CO2 or argoshield one, then they wont fill it with co2 or argoshield. Why wouldn't they fil it ? or do you just not know anywhere to do it?

I'm going to be in Newcastle from the 2nd october.. if you want to give me an argoshield one otherwise i'll have that co2 bottle off Paul on the way back from Newcastle

It's a pub CO2 bottle. I've tried to have it filled, but the places I've tried are agents and are only able to send BOC bottles to the depot. I would use it if I could as those little bottles don't last long and at nearly £8 a go, they're not cheap.

It's worth getting friendly with some pub owners lol see if they can get it filled for ya. Maybe talking to some garage owners too?

Dont like the little bottles, no good for my TradeMIG anyway.

Paul, if it's ok, could I arrange around the 2nd picking that bottle up? Might pop down the local dump, see if they have any ArgoShield ones, thats what i really want. But will make do with Co2 pub bottle for now

BOC don't fill anyone elses' bottles and if you get one without a contract you will have difficulty getting it filled unless you can do it on someone elses' account. I have 3 full size argon/oxy bottles from a bankrupt firm from a supplier I've never heard of, Sigas. I'm going to make a giant wind chime out of them . I have a contract for one Energas argon/co2 bottle which costs around £70 a year and £20 for a refill but they last for ages. BOC used to destroy their old or damaged bottles before disposing of them.
Soft drinks firms sometimes sell co2 bottles on a refill basis.

Pete, any chance of nicking one of your argoshield bottles anyway. My dad's cousin can get them refilled by a mate. Dont think there's any problem with the name of the bottle

If not, dont worry.. carry on with the wind chime idea

Used to get them easy but Boc clamped down on the dealers and made everyone contract. Now you just get depots. As it stands the hotel and cat trade are your best bet at the mo.

If you want to fetch one you can have it for the same.

No problem Pete, I'll have one off you for a tenner. Even if they cant fill it, not lost much

I'll let ya know when i'm in Newcastle, and when i'll be passing on way home.

Much appreciated.
