A Seven Please
Quinten - 3/4/14 at 09:23 AM

Hi all,

I'm looking for a BEC or (preferably) CEC Seven. I'm 6'5 and of 'moderate' build and so far my experience of a Westfield (bought one last year, but had to sell again couple of months ago) has left me wanting for more. I've got a budget of £6K, which is less than I want to spend, so I may be able to increase it slightly... as long as the wife doesn't find out

I would prefer a Westfield, MNR, MK or Dax and I would like to avoid Tiger (don't like the looks) and Robin Hood (don't like the invariable quality). I also would like to avoid the 'bare' side panels that some cars have. I'm checking PH, these forums, Autotrader, ebay, Gumtree and Car&Classic on at least a daily basis, so anything on those sites does not require pointing out. It seems a large portion of sales is by word of mouth, and I'm hoping that applies to me too...

I'm in Northampton, but willing to travel... ish. Not interested in any cars that would require a flight to see

Thanks for listening!

The bonnet bulge... I just don't like it

You don't want another seven... what you want is a 4.0L V8 monster with a proper body on it....

Still for sale and potentially within your budgie as well (plus it was designed by tall British people so you'd actually fit)

Nice try, but as much as I love TVR's, it's the wrong car for me... I sold my lairy E39 M5 to make way for something light and nimble

Have not seen one in the flesh yet, but they are quite 'lardy' looking. Still, if it doesn't have the shiny side panels, then I may be interested. Put this way, I won't rule it out beforehand.

I believe the striker is too small for me, and having seen one at the Exeter kit car show last year I was not very keen on the proportions.

are you wanting something just based on looks? or is driving the main thing?

They are a snug fit

I am just over 6' 2" and weigh about 75-80Kg and I have been happy driving it for 18 years. I have had a 6' 5" passenger (about 95Kg I think) in it a couple of times both on the road and the track

Don't be put off by shinny sides, its not that difficult to get them vinyl wrapped and with the right materials looks very good.

Pity you are so far away or i would take you for a spin in it

The plus side to the small dimensions is the car is very light and the handling is superb (I've chased down and passed some more powerful/ expensive Sevens on track)

PS a Phoenix is the same chassis as the Striker and the Fury is a little bigger...I have one in my barn parked next to the Striker!

The length is all in the legs with me... Good for supermodels, not so good for sports car enthusiasts

The Luego Viento is was specifically designed for Big and Talll people (and BIG engines).

Trouble is there are not many about, and I am regretting selling mine.

They dont come up for sale very often, so you need to move fast if one does.

Lardy looking? Depends on taste. Saw a finished one at its IVA just this week and it looked great.

Thanks all for the recommendations. I've received one u2u, so these threads do serve their purpose

Am seeing a Westfield tomorrow, but until I put the money down, am still open to other leads!
