Looking for a 3hp compressor or advice on upgrading a smaller one . Need to do quite a bit of shot blasting.

I can tell you a 3 horse is barely enough for blasting.

Well I'm only on mains so I doubt I could use anything bigger

You will need a pair of them if you want to sustain more than 20 seconds blasting

So tank size and a good cfm rating....

Most of us are in the same boat.

You want a good size tank, 100 L +

Belt drive.

The best Fad you can get for your money.

My experience, I have a branded belt drive 3hp comp with a 100 L tank and a fad of around 11 cfm. And it runs flat out on a little bench top blast cab, crushed glass as the medium.

It's great for brackets and bits but works the compressor hard.

as above you need 2.

I have a sip 3HP AND a 2hp small compressor (clarke £100) and it lasts 30 mins working.

So in reality , I need to buy a new 3 hp one to use in parallel ? Not sure I need 30 mins of usage tho.....

I thought barley was what you fed the horses

Or - you can use electrolysis to remove rust etc

what are you blasting ?? an option may be to consider a good Jet wash and do the water ?sand blast

Volvorsport - 2/8/15 at 08:51 PM

Rear axle (live) , subframe , wishbones , quite possibly engine bay and underneath too

have a look at the water blasting there is a kit on Ebay that attaches to a jet was needs to be above specific pressure though keep the dust down
