Looking for a lift for the garage, seen a number on ebay new, looking to buy used if poss.
Not looking for a permanent 2 or 4 poster, want something i can park over when not in use and possibly mobile.
What have you got?
Thanks in advance
I thought about getting a second hand one but thought would I go underneath something I have no history on?!!!
i used to have a sealy one that was really good, got rid when i bought a discovery and it wouldnt lift it but i really regret parting with it.
perfectly safe to work under as it mechanically locks in place. good for brake and suspension work or fwd cars, you cant do anything up the middle
though
I have a Wheel-free lift to sell on. It may be called an Autolift – other posters may recognize its description. Sorry the plate is long gone.
It is 110 Volt (I use it with a Yellow box plugged into the mains). There is a red box with a motor driving a hydraulic pump.
This is connected to the base frame by a drive over metal spiral containing two hoses and a release cable.
It is about 4” high when down and about 30” wide. I ran low cars on scaffold boards to clear the frame.
The legs are drawn out and placed under the sills of the car. Just like all modern garage lifts.
There are 2 types of ‘Y’ pieces to go under axles and arms, 2 sets of flat plates and best of all a 4” flat plate with spike to go into jig points for
stability.
As the lift is raised a ram on the floor frame that raises an ‘A’ frame.
At the apex of this frame the arms are mounted on a cross piece in an ‘H’ form.
This is controlled by another ram used to maintain the H’ frame level.
When raised the car is at wheel-free height about 35” from floor.
The lift arm ‘H’ assembly can be rotated to lift one or other end of the car – If secured with the peg plates for instance.
I have used it for car servicing and a Sierra can be rotated so the front bumper is 5’ 6” off the ground.
I also made jigs to use it for lifting chassis and the rotate feature is handy for underneath welding.
I bought it from a garage equipment company. He had bought 2 and mine was installed flush with the floor to service his Rally car.
I am looking for £500 or an offer close to this amount. It is in my workshop near Malmesbury 5 miles north of M4 J17
