Zetec bellhousing
OwenSP - 6/10/16 at 06:57 PM

Hi Chaps,

I'm after a bellhousing to mate a zetec up to my type E. Any surplus to requirement out there?

Thanks!

Not got the type e bell housing??? That fits a zetec...

which version of the zetec - the 2.0/1.8 zetec E (aka zeta) or the 1.4/1.6/1.7 zetec SE (aka sigma) ?

I'm swapping the crossflow for a zetec so the current bellhousing won't fit.

It's a Zetec E, never heard it be called a zeta before??

Zeta was fords internal name for this family - this explains it well enough:
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ford_Zetec_engine

correct me if I'm wrong but I though that type E boxes used basically the same bellhousing as a type 9 ?
(given that the type 9 is effectively the later 5 speed derivative)

either way the bellhousing pattern of a x-flow, pinto, CVH, DOHC and zetec E are all basically the same

(btw how sure are you that its a type E box?)

Type 9 bellhousing (and type 3/E) pattern ( straight 4 not V6) fits all Ford in lines from Crossflow to Zetec
HOWEVER Ford started to bugger about with engine names using Zetec on several variants and Duratec name on Zetec engines

Ah well that's a pleasant surprise! I don't have the zetec yet so haven't been able to see if the bolt holes match up.

Thanks the info chaps

I believe you may need to tweak / grind a little to make the starter to fit (depending on which one you use of course)

there are loads of guides on fitting a zetec E to a type 9 - most of that should be applicable to you

btw - are you buying a 'new' zetec ?
if so remember to change the cam belt before you use it - all these old stock engines are over 10 years old (last ones were made in 2004) now so the belts need done even if its never been run....

Also if it's a 2.0 Zetec you'll need a 1.6 or 1.8 flywheel as the 2.0 one is mahoosive!

It is a 2.0 indeed, it's currently mated up to a MT75 gearbox, do you know if an mt75 also needs the smaller flywheel?

Also it looks like I can't use the bellhousing I intended to, so I'm back in the hunt for one. Must be alloy!
