Desperately needed - 1/4 inch drive 5/16 BSF or 1/4 inch Whit socket.
Has anyone got one lying about forgotten in an old set that they're willing to sell to me?
I need to re-torque some nuts on the Auster engine and I can get to them with several wobble drives linked but the socket has to be very shallow to
clear obstruction. I did the job originally with one I made one from an old box spanner cut down and welded to a cut off socket but it's given up
now and is knackered.
Had a quick look, closest I could find is 3/8" BS 5/16 Whitworth. Yours if you want it, I can stick it in a jiffy bag and get it posted.....
Wrong size I'm afraid but thanks for looking.
I have a 1/4 drive 5/16 socket lurking at the bottom of my box of old sockets ... yours for free if u still need it

Hi .... ok sorry think it may be AF .... the only marking on it is 5/16 ...... what markings would u expect on a BSF socket?
I did find an old 1/4 W open ended spanner !!

I/4" whit is about 13mm AF so quite big for a 1/4" drive, mine is 3/8 drive
1/4 whit is .525 inches cross the Flats (AF) or 13.3 mm so 1/2 inch and 13 mm won't fit. It has to be a tiny socket because there is so little
clearance, so 3/8 drive is just too big. The angles are awkward too so need to use wobble drive.
I don't think 1/4 drive 1/4 whit exists - I've scoured the web with no joy, hence my request.
But I may have a solution. I've sourced a 1/4 drive 14 mm hex socket. This fits a bit loosely but I think it won't slip and round the nuts
as a 12 point would. The torque is only 12/13 foot pounds so I'll give it a go
