Hi guys,
Does anyone have a type 9 5 speed sandwich plate that’s fitted between engine and gearbox?
Cheers!
I made one for my car , not difficult if you can't find one.
Hi ya,
Was looking at that myself but no idea of thickness of plate and depending what’s out the there, the material could cost more than an actual one lol
Around 1.2~1.6mm will be fine. The ford one still needs modifying as the web on the Zetec is missing for the fwd starter.
Thanks guys!
What do you think of this?

Yep looks great, it’s got the extra bit of metal I referred to above. Just bolts in.
Then again, for £40 ish posted I would draw around the bell housing and cut one out, this is Locostbuilders
Lol was looking at the price of 1.0mm sheets today, guess it comes down to if to do the whole sandwich plate and space out the transmission 1.0 or do just fill the gaps style lol
I scrounged a bit of steel out of the skip of a local engineering company.
I guess the question is what thickness and if to go aluminium or mild steel?
I didn't bother. Doesn't seem to have caused any problems.
I would like to fill the gaps, for obvious reasons but would also making it one plate and space out the transmission cause an issue?
Oem is steel. And plenty of people get away with out one.
I wouldn’t want crap getting in there.
Lol me either! Any idea what the original steel thickness is?

I can do that no problem, just need original thickness now.
Many thanks, you guys are fab!!!
I used a piece of 16 gauge sheet , think that's 1.6mm or 1/16" ?
So I guess 1.0 - 1.5 should be fine? We use normally 1.2 mm
As above, 16swg so between 1.2 to 1.6mm will be fine. I think I put that earlier in the post.
