Bit of a long shot but does anybody have a decent one lying around in their garage they don't want ?

Just starting to think about turboing the mazda engine in my westfield.

Cheers
Peter.

I think i've a complete one in the garage I bought for mocking up if its any use?

Needs rebuilt to use i'd guess, but most do at this stage.

Drop me a PM if of interest.

Thanks for the reply.

I'm looking for one that doesn't really need rebuilding ideally.

Will let you know if that changes.

Cheers.
Peter.

When I started my MX5 engine turbo build I looked for a TD04, I couldn’t find a second hand one that I had confidence in so I look at the price of reconditioned turbos and it wasn’t far off the price of a new Garret turbo. I paid the extra and had a new Garret turbo from Turbo dynamic’s but there are a lot of second hand out there as they were fitted to Saab’s and I think GM engines (I know they shared the same engine but Saab liked to be different).

I have been told that, although people will tell you they picked up a perfect TD04 from ebay for £50 and never had a problem the supply is limited because the TD04 as we know and love are not supply on new cars anymore, and every budget turbo DIY install seems to us them so the demand is out stripping the supply.

TBH unless you buy refurbished, you are very unlikely to get one ready to go, most are removed for upgrade once the seals or bearings go.

I changed to SAAB TD04 due to more simplistic flanges.

The Subaru TD04 I mentioned above I will sell for £50, a new Centre (CHRA) from ebay is £99 and easily installed by whipping a circlip off either side, leaving you a rebuilt item for £150

I've bought two and always pay for the best example I can find. The last one was £220 from a 33k jap import.

I have two in the garage that I don't require.

They're Volvo ones with the normal flanges. (i think)

If my memory serves me right I think theyre TD04 13t HL turbos

I bought them a few years ago with the intention of turboing my cbr900, but never bothered, as far as I know theyre in working order but never used them myself...

any good?

If they are Volvo ones although they have a t3 flange you need an adapter plate as the Volvo mount is wider than a normal t3, I've got one to go on my zetec. Although I bought one off eBay, I ended up throwing it all away bar the oil and water connectors and clips and buying a whole new turbo mainly because I'm a tart, so now I have a 7cm turbine housing off a Volvo t5 an 11 blade turbine wheel brand new chra from turborebuild and a 19t compressor housing machined for a GTX billet wheel

I'm going to hold out for a wrx unit.

I want a simple bolt on job with a pre bought manifold.
I'm concerned about space under the bonnet so don't want to be adding any additional converter flanges.

Thanks for your replies.
