Have had a little accident and need to replace my sierra steering rack, the one with the steel tubular body. Does anyone have a spare they are willing to sell, or is there another rack I can modify to use. Thanks Dave
Wasn't aware they made one with a steel tube body - thought they were all alloy tube like the ones I had from several E, F anf G reg Sierras.
If its for an Indy I think Mk now sell a conversion kit so you can fit a mk2 escort rack as another option.
Thanks for your replies. Nick205 - On the old Sierra they had a cast aluminium steering gear housing with a steel tube fitted into the near side to get the extension needed. Big Wasa - yes its for an MK Indy. I'll check out MK for the MK 2 escort option. Thanks again. Dave

I asked a while ago about the MK2 Escort conversion but you'll need new wishbones etc as well to get the geometry correct.
Or at least that's what I was told..

Someone is selling brand new (not refurb) Sierra racks on eBay, though it's not a particularly cheap option.
The new ebay rack takes a few liberties with the idea of a pattern part, will a high ratio kit fit inside?
The Sierra P100 rack has a steel body (4.25 turns lock to lock).
Here is a picture alloy and steel side by side.
If you can't see the picture please let me know of a beter way of posting it.

Thanks for your replies. I have a fix for mine but its probably a modification to far, so will need to go for a new one. Regards Dave
