Wow, was going to reply that surely it cannot be that much lighter than aluminium but after doing a quick t’interweb search found that carbon fibre (per volume) is 40% lighter and 10 times stronger than aluminium.

There's a reason it's used in high performance everything despite the insane cost.

Personally I'd see if you can buy some cfrp honeycomb offcuts
