Type 9 speedo drive

This is very speculative, but has anybody out there got a right angled speedo drive for a type 9 gearbox they no longer have any use for.

I don't have one. I'm sure you probably have a mechanical speedo you want to drive with it.

However, when building my MK Indy with Pinto + Type 9 I opted to fit and electric speedo and glued magnets to my prop shaft (diff end) to drive it. It worked perfectly, the magnets never came off and the speedo was accurate enough to pass SVA. I did consider a right angle Type 9 speedo drive, but even in 2007/8 they seemed expensive to get hold of.

I for 21 years, never needed a right angle drive, and i can assure you, from gearbox to the scuttle was around 3" so an extremly tight turn
And i know you shouldnt lubricate a speedo drive, but if i had the speedo off, i would add some oil down the cable,

never had an issue in 21 years

Thanks for your replies. I really want to stick with the original gauge pod from the donor sierra if I can. I am updating the build (An MK Indy) which was first registered in 2014. The current cable runs through the wall of the tunnel and winds its way around the footwell and up to the scuttle. If I could replace the speedo in the gauge pod with a similar faced electric Speedo I would. I do have a second pod with a black face speedo so I wonder if this could be converted? then removing need for the cable. However I will see how I get on with putting a bend in the cable.

I never looked into it, but wonder if there's a converter of some kind that converts an electric signal to mechanical signal. I guess it'd need a power feed + motor to spin the mechanical speedo input.

When I built my mk Indy I put a bulge in the inner panel to give the Speedo cable more room so no 90% drive was needed

My Locost has a Type 9 and uses the full Mk 2 Escort pod. My speedo drive comes out of the side of tjhe tunnel then up to the instruments and never gets in the way of my feet. To some it may not look right but it works a treat. I secured it to the floor with a P clip.
