Penny washers!
bigandy - 9/5/05 at 09:40 PM

Good evening all.

I am in need of 4 M12 x38mm penny washers, and I'm having a few problems trying to get hold of some. I was wondering if anyone has any spare knocking round, or perhaps knows where I could buy 4 of them?

cheers
Andy

Where have you looked? Dont do to the mainstream high street places. I got a big selection of washers etc from a specialised engineering supplies place. They are commonly found in industrial estates and back streets. Usually a lot cheaper than high street although you may have to buy packs of 100 etc.

I got 5l of brake fluyid from my local place for around the same price as 2 litres in Halfords.
Try yellow pages etc.

Generally called mudguard or repair washers. As earlier posters have said, look up fastener suppliers in the local directory - only problem is a fair few now have minimum transaction qtys and/or insist on a/c's to deter low value transactions like car builders. If you get stuck I can stick four in the post.

It's funny you should mention the minimum order quantities. I;ve just checked with two local engineering suppliers, and they want £25 minimum orders. Seems silly for 4 dinky washers!

I've got a few more places to try, but if that fails, then I might have to take you up on your offer Kissy.

Cheers
Andy

Edit. It seems namrick don't supply them in metric sizes to suit an M12 bolt. i suppose I could drill them out though.

Namrick don't stock the 1/2" penny washers either though.... They only go up to 3/8"...
