I packed my homemade box with loft insulation that i got from Focus diy.I wrapped the perf tube with some stainless gauze i had and then packed the box with the loft insulation .So far done about 400 miles and its still working ok.

Is that ok to do?
And safe?
Why use the gauze as well as the perforated tube?
Cheers,

AFAIK Startrights in Hunslet sell it by the bag.

...and Powerspeed in Kent, and Merlin Motorsport @ Castle Combe circuit, Wiltshire.

Or your local motorcycle accessories shop, as I guess it is more common with bikes than cars.

I cant see any reason not to use it , it may not be quite as good as the proper stuff but easily available and cheap.I wrapped the perf tube in gauze to help prevent the wadding from blowing out , so far it seems successfully. One roll of it is about a fiver and i used about a quarter of it.

sounds silly but most of the bike lads round here use wire wool. B & Q etc

Volvorsport - 12/6/05 at 08:36 PM

stainless steel wool is the correct stuff , altho - plenty of offcuts of grp seem to do the trick
