O/T Lathe top-slide
David Jenkins - 6/10/05 at 09:30 AM

On the off-chance... I know that many people on this forum work in engineering so I thought it wouldn't hurt to ask this question.

I have a Colchester Student Mk1 lathe (known as a 'round-top' ) that has a 4-way toolholder on the top-slide. I generally find that the tool I want is never in the toolholder when I need it, so I'm always having to swap tools and reset them.

So I'm looking for a basic topslide for this lathe - the one that comes with a T-slot and a single tool holder.

If I can get one of these I can then make a quick-change toolholder...

Although I'm looking to buy a replacement slide, if anyone wants to swap a single tool slide to a 4-way then that's also an option.

cheers,

David

I don't know what make & model your lathe is, but you could try this bloke

Tony Griffiths

Didn't have what I wanted, but he's normally a good starting point, esp. for copies of manuals.

cheers,
David

Keep an eye out herehttp://easyweb.easynet.co.uk/~chrish/eng.htm
or post a wanted ad, great source for machine tools.

For Colchester spares, contact John Allibon at Nobilla Machine Tools.

www.nobilla.co.uk (I think?) Specialises in Colchesters. Got a huge barn full of the stuff.

He supplied my Colchester and any spares I need. Also other machine tools.

Syd.

Thanks for that, Syd - I've sent them an e-mail.

Wadders - thanks for the link, I'll check it out.
