I'm looking for a coupling nut or whatever it may be called of 5/16" unf. and a 40 mm long full thread matching bolt.
It is used to couple two threaded rods together via the long nut.
It's impossible to get hold of in this retarded country
Thanks!
could u not get one turned up or get a long nut with the smaller thread u are after one end and drill and tap the other?
Yes I probably could do all this but why going through so much hassle for a 1£ nut ?
I can hardly imagine that there is no place in England where a 5/16" unf coupling nut is available.
After all,you are the guys with the funny nut sizes
I'm sure my nuts are a normal size!!!
Not that I've done any checking you understand.
can you not get hexagonal bar over there and make your own. failing that if it's not under pressure get a short lenght of tube and weld a nut on
either end. i think some early fords had something similar on the exhaust manifold to act as a standoff for a bracket.
tony
I dont think I would ask it here if I could make my own but one never knows
Machinework is around 25£/hour or something like that overhere so that coupling nut would be very expencive I think.
cheers Cita
If you are up for it I'll make you one on Monday and swap it for a bottle of that lovely Trappist beer you have over there.
Does it have to be hexagonal? not sure we have any material but could make it from round with a couple of flats.
THANKS MATE !!!!
