Ford engine number

Hi
Does anybody know what the make up of a engine number consists of. I need to think up a suitably believeable number for my motor, ex development engine and has no number currently assigned. then add to the current V5 for the donor. Anybody got any knowledge or should I do a lotto rollover style guess?.

Can't Ford give you a number? At least this way it would be all above board and you won't run the risk of having the same number as anyone else!!

Probably not a good idea as they probably haven't noticed its missing yet, and I wouldnt like to have to explain how I came by it, or why it has no current number.

Go to a scrappy and have a look under the bonnet for a number and use that, or , buy a scrap engine of the same type and use that.
