Anyone happen to have a steering column shroud kicking around they don't need (Sierra one that is)

Long or short? There are 2 types as far as i know.

I've got a spare top half of an adjustable version if that is any good

the adjustable columns have a much longer shroud, with the obvious hole for the lever. The old columns are probably different too if the hazard switch is square, but ive never broken a mk1 car.

According to the nice men at Ford, the cover consists of a top piece, bottom piece and a metal bracket between the two.

My column is not adjustable and I think it is a round Hazard switch.

Anyone got one?

Ford prices for the no adjustable, round hazard:

Top - £8.63 +
Bottom - £11.81+
Metal bracket - £23.81+

Over £50......I think not

£8.63 is worth it for the top bit.

most i've seen have had the screw overtightened, or vibrated to death, cracking the lug it fastens through.

blutack and silicone seem to be common remedies.

i have a couple of tops, but the only good one is on my car.

Top and bottom bits don't seem too bad, but what is the metal bracket for and why is it so expensive?

God knows mate. I was quite happy with the top and bottom plastics, but then the guy reckoned there is a metal bracket which bolts the plastics to the column. I was under the impression they bolted directly to the column but it was impossible to see what he was on about as I enquired over the phone.

Perhaps someone can clarify whether or not there is indeed a metal bit in there too. Maybe he was just dull and looking at the steering lock section.
