After a good thrashing last weekend my crossflow sounds like someone is hitting the inside of the block with spanners!
Def not bigends. Took head off, valves OK no piston damage. A bit of a mystery so it a full rebuild.
So anyone got a cheap crossflow (1300 or 1600) lurking around that I can drop in and enjoy the car while the old engine gets a rebuild?
preferable collectable from Reading
U2U please

Steve - I know you have one next to the spindryer! Do you need it?
Sounds like piston slap or knackered camshaft if big ends are ok. Mine sounds a bit like that - been trying to blow it up for a while now to give me
an excuse to build another!

The one next to the spin drier was rebuilt about 2 years ago with about £600 spent on parts etc.
GT Head was reconditioned and converted to unleaded spec.
New crank was fitted, along with various other new bits and bobs.
Engine was then fully balanced.
Although only a 1300 (with +0.40 or 0.60 overbore, can't remember which), I'd be reluctant to let it go for less than £300 and TBH I doubt
I'd get that for a 1300 - was keeping it for the day when the Fury is finished and I decide to build something else...crossflow makes SVA so much
easier...
However, I could perhaps be persuaded to loan it out whilst yours is being rebuilt...
Stephen
BTW Where are you getting it rebuilt? I've been to CC before (for a rolling road mind, not engine work) and wouldn't go back.
