anyone know where I can get (cheaply!) a set of four, 15 inch, Ford fitment (ET 14 I think)?

I take it 17 inch are too big? (my tyres being 205/55R15)

What started this trend of alloys having the spokes protrude beyond the tyre wall?
They used to be deep dished ( Aagh! pizza ). Now you completely wreck a wheel if you kerb it.

I prefer the deep dish types - Revolution / Minilite etc, although I also blame Revolution for the RFX starting this trend!

It's also the fact that offsets seem to be getting larger and large for FWD cars - the main market the alloy manufacturers are aiming at... This mean you can't have a 'deep dish' on the wheel.

Only on nancy boy FWD wheels with limp wristed offset. You can definitely get RFX in a proper RWD offset.
Having now had all of the above on various 'sevens' over the years, I have now completed the set and have original 1980s Compomotive CXs on Ye Olde Sylva.
(How cool is that)

In an ideal world I would have Revolution 4 spokes, minilites, RFXs and Compomotive CXs available at all times depending on my mood. Oh, and Compomotive turbo split rims as well.
