Non kitcar: Set of old pool balls
Browser - 5/7/06 at 09:42 PM

Does anyone have a set of striped/numbered pool balls sculling about? Don't have to be perfect or even a complete set. Don't want the coloured sets favoured by pubs please. Drop me an e-mail if you can help, mark@harriss.me.uk

Save any cue balls you find! If you drill & tap 'em, they make great authentic shift knobs (i.e., the original 7's came with them!!) That's what I've done on my build, and so far it's my favorite part of the car (well, aside from the motor...and the carbs...and the suspension...well, I like it a lot!)

I've been lookin' on Ebay mate but the bidding tends to go silly. I just wanted to see if anyone had a set kickin' about in their garage before I got in a bidding war with someone

There's a guy sells drilled and tapped ones on ebay (bought a diff off him) - he's in Norfolk somewhere - he buys sets, and IIRC specific balls as 'spares' for that purpose, he'd be able to point you in the right direction. Apparently people go into pubs etc , bung the money in the slot and nick the balls - not that I'm suggesting you do that of course

My gear knob is a green snooker ball which I drilled and tapped M10 to fit the ford lever.

I want them for making kite ground stakes (copying a bloke on the Fractured Axel forum) and thought I'd see if anyone had any lying around.
I'd thought of the pub thing as well
