12v power output wanted

as the title really. Anyone got one spare? Alternatively, can i just clip wires directly to the plug? its to run a camcorder. Is it earthed sides and a positive tip?

Jon Ison sells them... Halfrauds typically want £8~£9.

Be very careful however as the voltage can be quiet inconsistant (spikes) and I'd hate to think you had fried a Camcorder by not having this advice. Personally I would not run any valuable electrickery with this form of output unless you were going to incorporate an anti-surge device.

Check the polarity before conecting not always negative on the outside -- little symbol usually found on the plate with the model number should give a clue.

anti surge seems a good idea. Its for the bullet camera rather than the camcorder anyway, but id be a bit annoyed if broke it. Especially with bloody bec rectifiers!

I did ask jon about these but he never got back to me, try again i guess!

Cheers.

It's not anti surge you need it's regulation. A simple 7812 chip from Maplins, mounted on a heatsink should do the trick (with associated filtering)

cheers marcus! Made no sense to me though, what 'associated filtering' do i need?! What do i wire the three pins up to? Surely not just earth, Vin and Vout?
