I am looking for a source of material to make spacers to go between the cycle wing plate and the Cortina upright. Currently I have just got bolts with
nuts tightening up to the upright on one end and the plate at the other, but the wings still vibrate a bit (in spite of the doubling up of the flat
steel bars), so I thought this would make things a bit more steady.
I am not sure exactly how to describe what I need, but it would be either thick-walled steel tubing or some type of thick rod - either way, with a
hole through the middle big enough to allow for an M8 bolt.
I need about 20cms worth, or 6x about 3cm if this type of thing is available singly.
Does this make sense as a solution?
Any ideas on where I could find them?
Or anybody got anything suitable?
Thanks in advance,
Simon
Just searched and found someone used crush tubes - are they the things inside rubber bushes?

I could machine you some out of mild. I have some solid 1 inch bar that I could bore out for you.
Any use?
I needed the same and found some steel tube in B&Q which ws just the job. They do ally tube as well but I think this would compress adn leave the
bolts loose.
I have done nearly 5K on mine and they vibrate a bit but are still on.
TangoMan - I'll go and look at my local Homebase - I know they have various lengths of metal, though not a huge choice. Alternatively I think
there's a B&Q in Tonbridge which is not far.
Emsfactory - thanks for the offer - if I can't find something suitable I'll be in touch
No bother. If you need me U2U me cos I probably wont check this thread again.
As you only want 3mm, why not three or four 8mm washers, once tightened up, basicaly a solid spacer. Just a thought. atb Ray

Could u not use 3 m10 nuts slid over? Wont look as neat but will do the job
Try your local hydraulic engineers for 12mm o/d by 9mm bore tubing offcuts. Or U2U me for more advice
