This guy may be worth a ring,

JE Developments
Claybrooke Mill
Claybrooke Magna
Nr. Lutterworth

tel: 01455 202909

John Eales is the proprietor of J.E. Developments. Do not confuse this company with J.E. Motors as many people do. John probably knows more about tuning the Rover V8 than anybody else in the UK. He has prepared many successfull competition engines including the engine in Tim Coventry's devastating hillclimb SEiGHT.

Broke a piston skirt while holding it in a vice?

OR

Dropped somthing realy heavey on your pistons and damaged the skirts on some, at least one very badly.?

stevec - 13/10/06 at 07:12 PM

I used to work for John many years ago,
We used to have some laughs. And he can drive a bit as well.
Steve.

If it helps mate, many years ago I was rebuilding a vauhall 32v staight six. Bolted head down, started fitting cams. Bolted down nearside cam & repeated process for offside cam, layed it down, layed down cam caps & did up finger tight then ran up and down caps tightening a little at a time.
Just nipping up the last little bit ........ SNAP went the cam shaft. £400 form the dealers later.
Woops I'd got the cams fitted the wrong way round.

I just told the boss it must have been a brittle or weak shaft.
