WANTED. Steering Column Shroud
andrew.carwithen - 23/10/06 at 01:46 PM

Has anybody got the upper and lower steering column shrouds for a non- adjustable Sierra steering column? Obviously, I offer an appropriate no. of beer tokens in exchange.

Thanks all,
Andy.

If nobody got one MNR sell em ( in the trim section ). I know because thats where I got mine from.

They are the adjustable type but these can be chopped down to keep eveything neet under the dash £ 35.00

I have a set of spares you could have but not sure what model they are off. They have a hole for a circular hazard warning switch in the top.

Cheers

Gary

Hi Gary,
I'm not sure, but I think the circular hazard switch denotes it to be the adjustable type shroud? (Others may confirm?) I had a look in the Haynes manual and I think I need type which has the square hazard switch hole. However, I may get back to you if I don't have any further success, so thanks for replying.

Andy.

My "E" reg has a round hazard and isn't adjustable. I had to bend a piece of plate to make an extension so it reached the dash though. It's painted black now so it doesn't stand out as much.

Have you tried all the local scrappies or is that a silly question
sierras are getting a bit thinner on the ground but there are still a few at our local ones.

Well, what d'ya know?
I had contacted them all last week to no avail.
Tried them again earlier today and one place had just got a Sierra in. Went down to have a look and its the adjustable type. Still, for a fiver, I think it was worth taking a chance that I can get the shrouds to fit. BUT the best bit is, it's a 2.9 4x4 and they are gonna let me have the complete rear end (LSD, rear calipers driveshafts etc.) for a mere £50! - and they'll remove it from the car!
Will do nicely as spares should the lsd, calipers etc. that I've already fitted prove to be lemons when she's finally on the road.
