Adhesive Rubber Seal Strip
907 - 11/1/07 at 10:22 PM

Hi All

I'm looking for some stick on spongy rubber strip to put on my nose cone and scuttle for the bonnet edge to sit on.

It needs to be firm (ish) and not crush down to nothing like household window/door draft excluder.

20mm (ish) wide and 5 or 6mm thick would be good. Suitable for exterior use.

I've seen it around cab doors and windows on earth moving equipment, but where I can buy it from God knows.

Anyone got any ideas?

Many thanks

Paul G

Woolies do it too.

Plus about every other stand at kit car shows!
(useful in March when they start again! )

Cheers

Wow. I'm gobsmacked.

Wasn't expecting that sort of answer.

I'm not sure if I should use it along the top of the engine bay sides as the edge will show
(depending on thickness & colour) from the outside.

So it's 2.7m if I don't, and another 1.8m if I do. 4.5m in total.

Cheers mate.

Try Car Builders Solutions. They sell it by the metre and it's not too expensive

They have a web page

Cheers for that Jason.

I've cut the front and back edges of the bonnet and need to sit it on the rubber before marking the bottom edge bends.

Have U2U'd my address, and if you do the same I'll drop a cheque in the post.

Thanks again

Paul G

p.s. Thanks everyone for the replies, and yes, roll on the shows.

Paul,

Sorry - missed this thread - give me a shout if all else falls through. I have some that may be suitable, plus a source in Ipswich that's really cheap and has lots of sizes on offer.

Paul, I think you need Neoprene foam tape. closed cell type, so it doesnt suck up moisture.
Happy new year.
