cmalc - 15/2/07 at 02:29 PM

I need a disributor shaft for the 1.8 cvh engine. Unfortunatly I broke mine when I was dropping the engine into my Indy.

i have tried scrappies etc but no luck. The main dealer (fords ) can order one but it will take months meanwhile I am stuck.

can anyone help?

Are you referring to the steel centre shaft that takes the drive from the block up to the rotor arm?

Do you have a pic of the bit that is broken?

I know on Pinto's there are Lucas and Bosch dizzys used, so if that i sthe case on CVH's it could be worth stating exactly what dizzy yours is (sometimes the colour of the dizzy cap is a give away).

Cheers,
Darren.

CVH distributor is on the end of the camshaft, not from the block.

Yes its a plastic shaft with a steel insert which bolts to the front of the cam pulley. Thats why it is broken as its only made of plastic.

GMS capri spares tend to do a lot of Ford spares and do all of the trade stands at the major shows.

Ive dealt with them myself and their place is an aladdins cave of bits, quite amazing what they stock sometimes. Highly recommended.

You've probably already tried, but, scrappies are likely to be your best bet. I know the bit you mean, its the bit you clip the rotor arm onto under the clip on cap, and yes they are a bit fragile if not pampered properly. You also have to be a bit careful when doing it up, just incase your socket slips, then oops.

And no I haven't got one.

How bad is it broken ? Most I have seen have one clip broken and still run fine.

The only reason I knew was my nephew had one and it broke but we glued it together and it ran fine for 3 years till he scrapped it.
