Wanted - (Victim) erm Co-Driver
Guinness - 6/4/07 at 04:46 PM

Wanted

A co-driver for an afternoon. Been trying to set up my Veypor digi dash today, getting the gear ratios, fuel thingy and data logging working. Trouble is I am having difficulty reading the manual, pressing the buttons and driving at the same time.

So I'm after someone who doesn't get car sick! to sit in the passenger seat and calibrate the unit for me while I hoon about. Ideal candiate should have ability to RTFM (unlike the driver!).

Would be helpful if the potential victim, I mean co-driver, knew of an empty straight flat road I could practice my standing 1/4 on too!

Cheers

Mike

If it's any help, Ive got mine working OK now(on my own).
They are a bit fiddly ar,nt they, but it's great now its set up.
I found that getting a reliable rev reading was key, using the different filter settings, though it was all over thge place standing still . much better on the run.
Then setting the gear indicator, worke d fine, but you need about 4-5 k to get it just right and bike engines arnt the easiest to hold a steady speed are they
I set the speedo up against my sat nav and just dialed in different wheel size till it was accurate. And today did my second fuel fil and I've now got a fuel gauge to supplement the bit of string with a weight on the end.

I know of a great bit of straight road in Heathrow, can get a bit lively during the day though, best at night.

Hi Mike

If you don't get a more local volunteer I'll help you out.

Don't know about a quiet place for flying 1/4's but there is a stretch of road on the Team Valley with a measured 1/2 mile (i think) that the police using for calibrating their speedometers. Supposedly every local authority has one of these for police use

Regards
