Escort trackrod end lock nuts
Shamrock GS - 2/9/07 at 10:00 AM

I need a pair of Mk2 escort steering rack trachrod end lock nuts. The local Ford dealer can't help. Does anyone have a set I could buy? SVA in 3 weeks and getting a bit desperate.

I did get what I thought was correct but the threads dont fit.

Failing that can anyone tell me the right size and thread and I might be able to get them made up?

Thanks

Gary

They are standard M14 thread. If you want to check just use the retaining circular "nut" that keeps the grinder discs attached to your angle grinder. Thats an m14 thread too.

Do you mean the nyloc that holds the rod end on the hub steering arm or the lock nut for the rod end to the track rod on the rack which is same as the Sierra one, M14 I think.

Lock nut for the rod end.

I have tried M14 withno luck - the rack is a reconditioned one from Burtons and I wonder if they have sent a Mk1 instead? I assume that will have a different thread?

Mk1 is imperial. I cant remember the thread.

I'm fairly sure its been asked before though if you do a search.

I've done a seach and the escort mark one is half inch UNF thread according to Flack Monkey and British Trident and those two know what they are talking about.

I have done a bit of fiddling and got the following results...

The Track rod ends fit the M14 spindle on my angle grinder.

The Collar on the angle grinder fits the track rod

The nut I have which seems to be M14 fits the angle grinder spindle but not the track rod!

I will now work on the assumption that the nut is wrong and try to find another M14 nut to see.

Thanks for your help on this - at least I know its not a Mk1 escort which narrows things down a bit.
