An ex colleague of mine is after a mini engine for his 17 year old sons mini pick up. Ideally in North East and not expensive. Let me have details and ill pass them on. They may be after other bits as well.

Cheers,
Darren

A lot more metro (or whatever it is called now) 1300 engines knocking about that would do his job? Our local scrapper (Carlisle) is full of them and dirt cheap but minis a bit thinner on the ground.

Later Metro engines don't fit, they are not A+. The earlier MG Metro is the one to go for.

Can he get insurance for a 17year old in a Mini with a modified engine? Worth checking before putting anything but a 998 in it - I know, I tried and it isn't easy and I have daughters not sons! I gave up and bought a totally standard mini, even wide wheels and disk brakes put the only quote I got to £1800 per year, nearly 3 years ago.

The best thing he could do with the pick up is sell it to me cheap ..

im confident they will know about insurance implications. Kevin is about as car mad as you can get and busy building a rally car. Im sure his son must have been brought up on petrol fumes and is starting his petrol mad career on the mini.

They are mainly after a good short engine.
