Anybody with access to a laser cutter or waterjet?
the_fbi - 30/9/07 at 11:55 AM

I'm struggling to find anywhere which can actually provide 2.25" (57mm) 2 bolt exhaust flanges, in stainless steel. 10-12mm thick.

Currently I have a backorder with Longlife but I'm getting sligtly tired of waiting as I need to make up some CAT parts for the tintop before its MOT, which is looming fast.

I'm happy to supply the material if its not something you've got hanging about, and I've made a .dxf of the part, clearly I'm also willing to pay.

Image below of what I need (6 pieces of), if you've got a laser/waterjet then please let me know!

Try Marc at MNR. He has the kit and may be able to help.

Give "Welderman" on here a shout, I'm sure he'd be happy to quote for something like that!

I have got a waterjet and will cut it free of charge (your material), the only problem with cutting something that thick is that the taper will be noticeable. 12mm seems pretty thick, I made mine out of 3-4mm only the other day and they seem fine.

Give us a u2u if your interested

Thanks pathfinder.

How much will the taper be, based on T304, of 8, 10 or 12mm?

Due to the fact I'll be arc welding it I didn't want it too thin, to help prevent warping. Also the current flanges on there are all 12mm, so ideally like to keep it uniform.

That said, if its simply not realistic then I won't use it.

I'll speak with Longlife on Tuesday to get their current ETA and if there's no progress I'll be in touch.

Thanks again.
Chris

ps. You're not doing it for free!

If you've drawn them up as a CAD file laser-eng.com will do about 20 of them for 35 quid including P+P (minimum order!!).

Use the ones you need and flog the rest on Ebay

Thanks. Submitted for a quote, we'll see

You can dial out the taper so it may not be that bad, definitely no more than 0.020”, and the cut is usually better on harder materials. For a part that thick I would be tempted to machine the bore out afterwards or make the dxf dims slightly oversize.
