Like the sort westfields have, the foam one that goes on a backing plate. Anyonw know where I can get one from and cost?

£85 TO £90 from MNR

Or, just get one from Westfield?

TTS also do them, and I imagine Bogg Bros too

(guess what I've been researching for my next purchase )

A friend has a blade engined Lotus 7 (original one!).

He used a Westy filter because it's the cheapest he could find. Guaranteed good service abd quick delivery too.

(wonder if the back plate would suit an R1?)

Back plates different.

You can also get one from TTS, but the cheapest I've found was Andy Bates...(AB Performance)

Stick with the original airbox if you have it. There's no more power to be had with a foam filter.

is that even if its done before my rolling road session with PDQ next week? I dont think my std airbox is exactly restrictive as ive put a k&n filter in it too. But was thinking of keeping that for the track, and an air filter kit for the road for more noise! tho it doesnt sound as nice with the throttle boddies to carbs imo!

Personally, I'd get it setup with the original airbox on and leave it on. You'll still struggle to get on some tracks even with a quiet exhaust.

If you've got a power commander though, you can have two different maps. One quiet map for trackdays with a restrictive exhaust fitted and one for road and drag with a loud race can fitted. Simply upload whichever map you want.
