I have yet to find the correct self tapers for the Polo Rad fixing points. The ID of the hole is 4.8mm and about 12mm deep. All the self tappers I
have looked at so far are to small.
I have in mind that I need some hex head self tappers that don't have point but are more like the screws used on PC cases (but bigger).. No idea
of were to get them or what they are called.
I only need 4, if any one has some spare form fitting a polo rad I am happy to pay postage/beer money for them..

I used big fat pan head self tappers cut to length with the end rounded off - have a look in B&Q or Homebase for one of the little packs of 10.
I tapped the hole to about 5mm and then fitted normal m5 hex head bolts.

The best screws I found were M6 cap head machine screws, these go into the plastic very nicely and are very firm. I have also removed these on several occasions without problems. Length I used was 20mm
i tapped them out to m6
M6 for me too - they hold it nice and firm.
Yup M6 cap heads here too
m6 for me as well
So it looks like a bottoming M6 tap is needed then?

I didn't tap them. The M6 screw went in without doing so.

I got some from the local motor factors... I measured the dept of the hole several times, and cut off the ends of the screws before tightening them up
i used some m6x20 , straight in with out any tap - no real need to tap it.
i supported my rad from below, so the top two bolts only stop it flapping about.

I wound M6 bolts in without tapping, had them on and off a couple of times and they still hold nice and firm.

the rad i got from the polo was fixed with 6mm self tappers.
M6 for me. Cant remember if i tapped them or not. Dont think i did.
my polo rad came with 6mm self tappers must of been my lucky day
M6x20 again.
M6 Tapped and 12mm long stainless steel machine screws for me.
Are you all sure 20mm is not too long?????????? The holes in my rad were DEFO not that deep.
I may have some Cortina wing fitting screws at work although IIRC they have a point that may do the job if you want them.
Thanks all,
Rusty nuts, I have some M6 SS screws so I will use them. Thanks for the offer though.

Your welcome.
