Old Nokia 6230i please?
McLannahan - 16/12/07 at 10:42 AM

Morning all - Not truly kit car related, but I wondered if anyone had an old Nokia 6230i mobile 'phone hanging around?

I've bought a new tintop and would love to use the handsfree fitted but it's only compatible with this 'phone!

Many thanks all

Michael

Thanks Daz but they all seem to go for good money - about £50 inc postage!

Bit out of my budget!

Will have a look tonight

Hmm, my dad has one that seems to eat batteries unusually fast, but that might not be a problem for you.

How much would you be willing to part with? I think he was planning to ebay it.

Sorry I'm a Turnip!

It's a 6210 I had in my box, I have a 6230 that I've just replaced a fortnight ago but I'm keeping that as my spare.

Please feel free to scold me

Blue - I think they all did that. 6230 seemed to be good on battery but the 6230i was much worse! Wouldn't bother me though!

What sort of money is he looking for? Don't want to make an insulting offer!

Thanks for all your help guys!

Frank - EXACTLY what I did!!! I thought all confidently that I had an old one, indeed I did but the 6210. I thought I'd try to make it fit....Oh god no...MILES off!!

The 6230i is a much better phone than the non i so if you can stretch id get an i.

When I say unusually fast, I had a 6230i now which he has recently "inherited", he says my old one doesn't eat batteries nearly as fast as his old one (the one for sale).

If you're still interested though he says you can have it for £35.

Also, I have a 512MB memory card to fit those phones which I'll throw in for an extra fiver.

Let me know, can accept payment by paypal, plus a bit for postage (I never know how much postage is)

u2u sent to you Blue!

you should find, size/fitting wise, a 3100 will fit, its exactly the same size etc(i have one of each). so software wise, its prob the same to.

so maybe a look for a 3100 will be better, as they have no camera etc.. colour screen etc, but might be a cheaper option.

hope that helps.. infact if it does, and it will work, you can have my 3100 for £25 including postage. its on virgin, but easily unlocked, i think a O2 chip works in it to so prob is unlocked....

Thanks anyway Daz but ideally would like a 6230i for the camera aspect too. I used to have one and now it's a good old phone. Dependable but basic! I'll carry on my search - someone will hopefully have an old one somewhere out there!

I found that the "i" version was miles slower to use, go through the menus, send text messages etc - i.e. it could keep up with my fingers.

I think it was down to the higher resolution screen but they didn't seem to improve its processor / graphics hardware to keep the speed up.

Anyway I might have a non-i 6230 as I'm upgrading soon (finally)
