I bought a cheapie B&Q jobbie with about 100 add-ons for less than £20 and its still going strong despite being regularly abused. Dremel are overpriced and play on their trade name imo.

Maplin has an offer on, was £29.99 now £19.99 for a dremel copy in a little metal case with about 10 different types of accessories, comes with a FREE 400 peice accesory set in a natty little case which is normally £19.99 on its own!

It stalls when you try to cut through 2mm steel though....

i have one of the balck and decker ones, had it for quite a few years and much abused - and one broken spring later, easily to fix, it is still running.

ive had my dremel for.....god knows how long. gotta be at least 15 years if not more.
cheapy ones wernt around then...lol

and it still going strong and boy has it had some abuse.

I had a couple of cheapie ones and they broke, well I broke them, then got a Dremel and it's 100 times more robust. Did all my head work with ome and still working like new...Get what you pay for in this case....If just for some cutting of soft material or light sanding the cheap ones are OK.
