Steering shaft
Neil P - 8/4/08 at 12:41 PM

Due to my own haste and stupidity (mainly stupidity) I have damaged the rubber flexi joint on the lower steering shaft from my sierra donor.

I need a replacement either from a sierra or something similar. The only real requirement is that it fits the splines of a MK2 escort rack and has either a rubber donut or UJ as it will be cut off and extended. The state of the top UJ is unimportant.

Anyone got anything, please?

Neil

Halfords sell them

or if you go onto vw heritage web site (old vw beetle) you can order them online, the vw ones also fit ford

oh and don't buy plastic ones as there as hard as rock and will wreck your racks bearings

Bloke at Halfords says "No, you'll struggle, cars don't have steering shafts any more". Oh dear!

Your mistake was asking a question at Halfords

Don't get me started on Halfords - I got £500 worth of vouchers through work and spent them all but since have taken back at least £200 worth due to stuff being wrong.

One of these?

Edited to say... probably this one is better.

Quick rant... damn websites that resize the browser window without asking!

Sorry if that link above does that to you and it winds you up as much as it does me!

That rallydesign one would probably do the job.
