Have you had a look at what comes up under 'kit cars' on Ebay, or were you thinking specifically of Locost projects?

I was thinking of Locost as the type of car rather than in the financial sense. I was asking whether you were lookng for a LSIS (lotus seven inspired sportscar) or whether any abandoned project kit car would fit the bill

Actually, £2000 would get you quite a decent way into your own project- you should be able to buy a chassis and the various wishbones, brackets etc and a donor for that kind of money, then do the build and add the body parts when you can afford it.
