Unfortunately, based on the repeats of this over the last eight years, I now know before Mark does what he is going to do next!

Although its quite an amusing game to play with your TV, shouting "Youre going to need to rebuild that" or "dont forget to put this on first" a second before he does.

Yes but the old race cars and classic cars are good in between Marks rebuild

I love those programs, I think one of the best bits is the Westfield build when he calls his four speed gearbox a type nine 5speed. and when he demonstrates the gears later when its fitted in the car he puts it in 1st 2nd 3rd 4th and then he says fifth is over there just after the camera pans away,
I just love his enthusiasm.

Steve

he does alright for a tv vet

steve m - 29/12/10 at 01:14 PM

I enjoy his programmes, he has some wit, and poor old Pete mate gets some stick !!
But it seems Pete is useless ??

But what Mark does do, is show what can be done, more so in he earlier series than later with more basic equipment and garage space

I have to watch the E-type one over and over again

Why did i ever sell my flat floor 3.8 !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

fesycresy - 29/12/10 at 01:17 PM

Rumoured to have spent £85k on that car

PSpirine - 29/12/10 at 01:20 PM

The more you know, the less impressive the programmes are.
But what he does do brilliantly is get people interested in it - people who couldn't care less whether he's fitted the right balljoint or called it a Series 3 gearbox instead of a Series 2 etc., it just makes them think - I'd quite like to do that!

I was absolutely hooked on the idea of the helicopter or plane builds, despite knowing that he's made a few errors in the programme and probably didn't show a lot of important steps.

Quite bored of watching and watching and rewatching them now though! Working my way through American Hot Rod now.

JoelP - 29/12/10 at 02:52 PM

dying penniless is only a problem for your kids, its living penniless you want to avoid.

I've only ever seen the last episode of the helicopter one (now that I think of it "A Chopper is Born" isn't going to be about a bike is it?) When I found out you could get one as a kit my first thought was "Ohmyf**kingodIwantone! How much?"
