Alternative body style for locost chassis
Delinquent - 21/12/07 at 10:36 AM

I stumbled across this earlier while looking for some other bits n pieces - I think it would make a nice alternative bodyshape for a Locost Chassis with very little modification.

Apologies if it's been seen before, quick search didn't bring it up..

Its very American Hot Rod but modern. The Grille is a bit Audi. I particularly like the rear, and the sides for that matter. The front it a bit to USA for me but it could be made into something really nice.

If someone was brave enough to make an alternative body for their chassis that looked like this, I think their sales would improve somewhat. In some ways I prefer it to the standard seven shape.

i like it

I like it but wouldnt pass SVA with no arches

Big problem around the doors as you'd have to get rid of the upper chassis rails and have some significantly stiffer low down construction.

or leave the chassis as is, open the door and simply climb over the chassis rail in as per the norm

youd also have to use volvo running gear , what a shame .

Add some cycle style mudguards and it would probably be road legal.

I like it - reminds me of the Toniq a little bit.

Woul like to know what it is ...

nice car

falcor - 21/12/07 at 03:25 PM

It's a Swedish design, apparently the guy who did it made it for Rush...

with a low, fat rollbar in brushed stainless steel it'd still look better than any seven I've ever seen....

got any more pics or links? Like that a lot as well.

I like the whole 7 ethos but really don't go a bundle on the looks of them - I'm a bit of a closet hot rod fan hence my liking of the one I posted, but modern works just as well for me

I don't think you'd have to go that far - just lower the upper chassis rails a small amount. The bodywork is generally taller so I think you could easily get away with some deep sills and shorter doors (or as suggested earlier, keep the doors full height but have a rail to step over)

Of course if you wanted to go mad and play with the chassis... the one I posted is mid engined

hmmm have to say, I think the shot you posted of it is it's best view - front and back let it down badly (but not insurmountably!)

That looks awesome!

About the cycle wings for SVA, could they be removed afterwards and just "forgotten" to be put back on

IMO that Super8 is the mut's nuts. Here is the thread translated - well after a fashion: http://gramtrans.com/gt/url/?url=http%3A%2F%2Frejsa.nu%2Fforum%2Fviewtopic.php%3Ft%3D27929%26highlight%3Dsuper8&pair=swe2eng&x-form-id=transla te_url

From what I can make out DAX seemed to be considering buying the body design in April 2006.

I think they both look like nice cars, you never know what the future will bring, say another ten years, i would consider driving one.
