Painting tyre words. Chav or not?
asl - 15/4/09 at 03:10 PM

Hi. Just got my beloved 888s and have just finished cuddling them! Was contemplating painting the words on the tyres with tyre paint. Is that chav or is it ok?

afj - 15/4/09 at 03:11 PM

I say its ok

gingerprince - 15/4/09 at 03:14 PM

Just chalk FF, FR, RL, RR on them, look proper racy then

It's very chav, don't do it.

Did it with my Kumho V70As and I'm in two minds whether its chav or not - it certainly took a LOT longer than I was expecting.

I think its probably ok on really serious rubber like R888s, AO48s, V70s etc, but on ordinary tyres its probably a bit chav.

excess weight; I vote no.

save the money you'll spent on paint for something useful.

No half measures

i get really annoyed by the use of the word chav
why would it be 'chav'?

A1 - 15/4/09 at 04:17 PM

i agree on the excess weight...put the 5.99 towards this!

What word would you prefer?

Or is it the sentiment that's the problem.

You certainly need *a* word to describe a certain subgroup of the population!

Cheers,
James

As long as you dont have a fake burberry soft top you'll be ok.

tomprescott - 15/4/09 at 04:47 PM

I think painting the words is a bit chavtacular myself, the way I gauge it is what would it look like on a 106, if in doubt say no!

'chav'?

'chav'?

'chav'?

no. they're not

'chav'?

yes. yes they are

i just don't see why anything to do with modifying a car is considered 'chav'
remember a while ago someone on here was considering a twin headlight conversion, and it was deemed 'chav' it just annoys me that this word gets banded about for anything

white lettering on tyres, or twin headlights are not "a certain subgroup of the population"

or this

asl - 15/4/09 at 05:32 PM

That's decided then, I am going to paint them!!

blakep, good point well made I suppose my fear is that I will regress and be seen as one of those boy racers! Mid life crisis is probably beckoning!

All well and good if its a race car and you are being supplied tyre as part of your deal with the tyre company then great E.G F1 or NASCAR. If its your own car and no one is paying for you to advertise there tyres then you must be nuts!!! or a chav. You choose. But thats just my opinion.
