Pat...
oh great $50,000 just to own a flying car that doesn't even fly or even do anything once the length of extension cord has run out...
I'd rather have a x-wing fighter prop.
^ was gonna say it looks a bit... old skool, with that CRT monitor and PC joystick
This is the last one out of three. All of the flight testing with the other two resulted in crashes. I dunno why people throw money at projects like this. The other one is the Moller SkyCar and it's just as big a pile of shite. Millions of dollars spent and its still no more than 30' off the ground on a tether. Without any actual flying properties, ie wings and stuff, if one of the fans stop turning, the bastard will fall like a brick. Why spend $6,000,000 just to find that out?

helicopters are ok without power so long as the blades stay in one piece

You do need enough height to get the blades to auto-rotate - 30 ft is NOT enough! That's probably the worst time to lose power - if you're
high enough you can auto-rotate, if you're very close to the ground then you just get a hard landing. In between...
Helicopter - 10,000 spare parts flying in loose formation.
