Powder Coating Engine

Hi Guys,

Has anyone before powder coated the outside of their engine block and head at all?

Have a home powder coating kit and was wondering whether this is possible?

Cheers

James

No experience of it, but I suspect you might struggle to get enough heat into the block to do it properly. I'm not sure it would last that well either as the masked edges would probably start to fail and peel.

Powder coating seems to work best and be the most durable when you can coat the entire component.

High temp engine block paints do the job pretty well. Can be a fiddly job and getting the block mechanically and chemically clean enough really needs to be done professionally to ensure a good enough paint key though.

Floor paint is your friend.

You don't need high temp paint for the block.

I always use grey industrial 1 pack floor paint and its lasted 5 years on a daily use road car (my brother's manta)

cheers
