Hayabusa 2nd Gear Problem
Wells - 10/4/10 at 07:29 PM

I have just replaced the clutch in my car(OEM). Went a quick run and I think Its popping out of second gear a 9-9500 revs. It happens so quick though I'am not sure. The only thing I changed when fitting the clutch was to fit clutch palls which I was told would give the clutch a more positive feel. Does anyone have any ideas or come across this before?

Normally when bike boxes start jumping out of gear it's because the drive dogs have become rounded off. I can't think how changing the clutch could be causing this but I don't believe in coincidence either.

Does it jump out under power or on the over run?

Does it stay in gear for a while or jump out straight away?

Is it getting worse?

It jumps out under full power. It doesn't seem to be getting worse but its only started doing it today. It only jumps out for a split second and then jumps straight back in again. How dificult/expensive is this to fix?

Gear Selector is most common cause.

New one about £80 if fitting yourself...

ZX12 is half engine breakdown - likely same on Haya!

Normally caused by the biker in question reating foot on gear change...

My bet is still dogs being rounded, under power it should be virtually impossibe to get out of gear.

I had this happen on my blackbird engine. Wouldn't hold 3rd gear at all under power and it turned out the dogs were rounded. Cue me splitting the engine in half and fitting all an new gear kit and selector forks whilst I was in there. Can't remember what it cost, but it was roughly £150 to do myself.
