Sod's law nice rebuilt engine bore washed ,new pistons and rings fitted bores honed ,arp bolts etc ,,,second time around started fine no smoke and purring like a kitten then 30 miles down the road low oil pressure ,,,,checked everything out when cold 4bar pressure 1.5 on tick over when hot ,,decision now made to remove oil pump and replace with the z20 let pump which was a mission to get a pick up pipe ,but that cars for you ,,,third time lucky broom broom 7 dark oil pressure then pop goes my turbo (( starting to think this cars doomed

If you have a ball bearing turbo, I presume you have an oil line restrictor in place?

Don't know mate it's a t04e hybrid

I was under the impression that if you have a good oil return size pipe then it wounding matter if you had a restrict or or not

Depends on the design, ball bearing turbos require very little oil flow, too much can be a negative both from the point of leaks but also because the rolling elements start sliding.

Just googled it and it says the turbo has wet float bearings ,,don't know what they are so more research required

Wet float means it's a bush type.

I was going to try a reducer see if it stopped the smoke as don't want to change turbo and the same happens again
