Black air filter foam

Had a great day at Boggs today, chatting with David Bogg a very decent chap who certainly knows his carbs. We have now got the carbs setup really well accross the range but the conical air filters I have on at the moment are too restrictive and I need to change to a piper cross foam type jobbie. Problem is space, I know I'll have to make my own back plate but wondered if the black foam can be sourced any where off the roll, looked on the bay and there is some red stuff which would look crap although it does have black on the other side but not sure if it could be used that way round or not.

Anybody seen anything?

Cheers

Rich
