Starter solenoid
Need one of these fellas, mine appears to be rather dead.
Or does anyone know how to strip and revive them?

Nah, can't be that, it stopped working before the cack was removed

Have you tried giving it a gentle tap with a hammer? IF that doesn't work give it a good wallop. Won't fix it but it'll make you
feel better
