Wanted - Long type 9 gearbox front cover.

Does anyone have a long version (I think from the 2.8 amd 2.9 V6 models) of the front gearbox cover they want to sell? Its the part that the clutch release bearing slides on.

Turns out I was done with my gearbox. I was told it was from the big V6s, with the better gearing, so I took it, and then bought the (expensive!) Caterham spacer to take account of the long input shaft. Turns out to be from a 2.3 V6, which has the same ratios as a standard box, but with the longer input shaft. Now I've welded all my engine/gearbox mounts in and had the chassis powdercoated, my only option is to use this box, and then at least when the right gearbox comes up, it'll drop straight in! Final ball ache though is that the front cover is from a diesel, and is shorter than the normal V6 one!. I hate building cars sometimes!!!!

Cheers

Adrian

I think the term your looking for is 'input shaft sleeve'

Edit: Just for reference if you don't have any luck you can get an adapter (or lathe one up) that slots into the standard length sleeve to extend it (interference fit)

Normal is getting dressed in clothes that you buy for work and driving through traffic in a
car that you are still paying for - in order to get to the job you need to pay for the clothes
and the car, and the house you leave vacant all day so you can afford to live in it.

My mate picked up a quaife straight cut type 9 that had both the 1 inch spacer between bellhousing/gearbox and the input shaft sleeve extension fitted - I'll have to ask him of their origin as the previous owner did tell us but I've forgotten who he said!

Edit: It was 'Thekingofbling' on THIS thread that he got it off so might be worth a u2u to confirm where it was purchased from just incase your unable to get hold of a whole V6 sleeve.

Cheers
