WTD: Oil Filter Remote

Hi All,

I need to move my oil filter, and was wondering if anyone here had a remote for sale. Doesn't need to be new, but as long as its functional and doesnt leak.

Im fitting an oil cooler as well, so if the remote has a cooler take off as well that would be handy.

Thanks.

Kindest Regards,
Richard.

If you have a remote then you just run the oil return through an oil cooler then back to the block

nooooooooooooooooooo

do not do this

you need a thermostat to the cooler otherwise your oil could be too cold and that is not good for the engine

If you run without a stat your oil will be too cold. Even if you can get it close to the correct temp (very unlikely) it will take a lot longer to get there. Even the wax stats commonly supplied are fairly poor for the most part as they start to open way before there specified operating temp and again slow the warm up. If you run your oil too cool you will do damage to your engine for certain.

Oil coolers are really good but they do need to be correctly installed and a stat is prerequisite!

How about an oil/water cooler? like
http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Ford-Sierra-3dr-Sapphire-Cosworth-Oil-Cooler-Modine-/330458845033?cmd=ViewItem&pt=UK_CarsParts_Vehicles_CarParts_SM&hash =item4cf0e1cf69

so it warms the oil up nice and quick, and keeps it at the same temp as the water? simples. As used by all sorts of stuff, but notably VW diesels etc

No, the objective of moving the oil filter to a remote, is to give me more room at the side of the block. This would defeat that.

Ive already got one of those anyway, but i dont plan on using it.

The take offs from this arent for water either.

Meant to fit to remote filter head, as an alternative to a normal oil cooler rad and thermostat. I reckon they are a clever idea!
