Shipping containers
I'm after a pair of 40ft shipping containers fairly urgently. Not bothered what they look like as long as they're dry inside and
don't leak - happy to give them a coat of paint, etc.
They'll need to be delivered to Whitchurch near Aylesbury. It'll need dropping into position, so lorry needs to have a hiab, but
it's hard standing right up to the site.
(Obviously I can sort out delivery if you've just got the containers)
Anyone got any sources other than eBay?

I bought 2 20's from a local freight forwarders yard. They had "lost their sea tickets" whatever that means, and the guy
wasn't going to renew them. Apparently its quite common to sell them off cheap after the ticket expiry.
FYI
I paid 1600 delivered for 2 good condition weather tight 20 footers.

Yeah, ive not bought one myself, but basically as i understand what you after is one thats been condemned.
Certainly the one the uni motorclub bought was basicaly mint, bar a half decent dent in a rear pillar where they had clearly revered a forklift into
it or somthing. Given the bulk of the strenght is in the pillar and it was new, its a gonna but still very usable as long as your not stacking them 5
high while loaded.

Got a deal on the table for 2 x 40ft delivered for £3200.
Any thoughts people? Good or bad deal? Pretty convinced I'll go for it unless anyone gives me a good reason not to!

I bought a 20 foot container for £500 delivered. A 30' would have been £400 (eh?) or 40' £6-700.
I drove passed the docks and took some numbers of the freight companies and rang around. If they couldn't help, I asked for the number of
someone who could. It took an hour or so of ringing about but got there in the end. Also, visit one of those 'storage containers for hire'
sites where you hire a container to fill with your stuff and note down the name of the company who supply the containers to the landowner and ring
them.

Well I went for the £3200 deal.
Got one high-cube (9'6" one, which I'll stash with general 'stuff' and another regular height one for car storage.
Now on the look out for some 'dexion' type shelving!

'Big Dug' have some goos offers for steel shelving. I seem to think it was around £130ish for three bays.

I hadn't realised how expensive shelving was!! Even on eBay, you're looking £30 per bay

If you're happy to pay £3200 for two tin boxes, get your hand in your pocket for some shelves...............
