OT: Large Fan/Propeller Wanted
I am looking for a large fan blade for a little project I am building. Its a one person swamp boat using a Briggs and Stratton 8hp motor. I am
struggling to find a fan blade/propeller. I have been outbid 4 times on ebay by people who bid with 3 seconds to go. It needs to turn
anticlockwise.
Cash waiting, ideally 750mm to 1000mm in diameter.
Something like this
I know this is a long shot but I am getting desperate.

Ring this Number 01782 324000 and ask for Paul, he may have knowledge of where props are...

Try scrap yards that have old industrial refrigeration condensers from cooling towers, large roof extractor fans. All fans are directional and have
a max designed speed. Most fan speeds in the refrigeration use run up to 1400 often with a speed controller.

Prop is 1030 mill wood 2 blade, Engine is 2 stroke pull start magneto ignition it originally sat on its own cradle with short belt drive (3 belts) but
Ive no idea where the cradle is, you'd have to get someone to turn you a new pulley onto which you'd bolt the prop.
I wouldnt have thought a Briggs and Stratton 4 stroke (lawnmower engine) would rev high enough to give you enough thrust
U2u me if interested.
Cheers,
Bob

We used to use industrial fans on homebuilt hovercraft. The bigger the fan and the slower you spin it the more efficient it is Tyy googling multifan
and Breeza. They are adjustable pitch and you can tune their power absorbtion to match the engine. We used toothed belts to get the speed
reduction.
Also Google hoverclub of great britain you can pick up a lot of info and maybe second-hand stuff
Cheers!
Ah! just read your post properly. Think you will be exceptionally lucky to get a swamp boat to move at all with a 8hp motor. There is a reason the
Americans use 5l engines you know! With hovercraft they struggled with less than 25hp and you will have a lot more drag. I'd do a bit more
research first but I'd be delighted to be proven wrond!

You'd be surprised how quickly the sales people at B&Q try and assist you after ignoring you for the past 15 minutes when you try and start a

Thanks for the replies guys. I bought the Briggs and Stratton as it was dirty cheap cheap and I was basing the idea on this clip from you tube. He
is using the 13hp engine and it goes easily fast enough
